Willa Liu

Xinwei Willa Liu is the Mandarin Interpreter at C & A Scientific! She is responsible for reading, proofreading, editing, revising, and researching written materials such as legal documents and marketing materials to translate from Mandarin to English and vice versa. Willa also interprets any verbal communications between C & A team members and external stakeholders. When necessary, she provides support to the Customer Success Department.  

Willa was born and raised in Beijing. She first came to the United States in 2013 as an exchange student at the University of California Riverside, where she studied the English language and Social Sciences. In 2014, Willa graduated from the University of Science and Technology in Beijing with two bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and English Language and Literature.  

Growing up, Willa always wanted to study hard to become a professional translator. Her mother planted this seed when Willa witnessed her speaking English when she was three. After hard work and dedication, Willa scored 94.8/100 on the Chinese National Mandarin Proficiency test.   

Before joining C & A, she worked as the Mandarin Chinese-English Bilingual Customer Engagement Specialist for a rendering company. While there, she helped facilitate communications between her Chinese customers and various departments within the company. 

Outside work, Willa devotes most of her time to caring for her three young children. She also enjoys swimming, photography, listening to The Economist Podcast, and volunteering at her daughter’s school to teach the children about the Chinese language and culture. Willa believes her purpose in life is to take care of her own family and give back to society.  

Her favorite quote is, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Willa continues to work towards her goal of providing translation at C & A Scientific.
